As with many of us today, I have worked in two different fields: that of an educator and a mental health professional. Focusing on education, I received two degrees in New York, a Bachelors degree in English with a minor in Education from Mercy College and a Masters degree in Religious Education from Fordham University.
To prepare for my career in the mental health field, I entered the Social Work Program at California State University, Long Beach. There I received a Masters degree in Social Work. Several years later, I earned my doctorate in psychoanalysis at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles.
Over the years as a clinician, I have worked at mental health clinics and an inpatient psychiatric locked facility, offering individual and family therapy. At the inpatient facility, in addition to treating patients, I was also part of the staff that trained social work interns and marriage and family interns as well as residents of the hospital, who were studying to be MDs specializing in psychiatry.
I have had a private practice for the past fifteen
years in West Los
Angeles.
